Can I store my bags there before I check-in or after I check-out?

Yes, that can be arranged. The front desk will hold them for you until you're ready, we are here to help.

Yes! We have a heated saltwater pool that can be found on Level 4.

Do you have a shop?

We have snacks and necessities, SunBum sunscreen and the good stuff — like You&Yours canned cocktails, pool floaties, succulent arrangements and other local fares — all for sale across from the front desk in the shop. To purchase, please take your items to the front desk to add to your room.

What are the food and drink options?


Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, also including our Lobby Bar to satisfy your want for an adult beverage.

*24-hour Grab-n-Go items can be viewed in the glass case in the bar, items such as house-made yogurt parfait, chicken caesar wrap, and slices of cheesecake are made fresh daily and available for purchase with the Front Desk.

Our rooftop restaurant and bar, Above Ash Social, is open Wednesday and Thursday from 4pm to 10pm, Friday and Saturday 12pm to 11pm, Sunday from 12pm to 10pm and a Happy Hour available Wednesday-Sunday from 4pm-6pm.

Can I rent venues?

Yes. We rent out our spaces for private events, weddings, bridal and baby showers, conferences, private dinners and more. You can get details about our different event spaces here.

What are your reservation policies?

You must be 18 or older to book a room.

Please note that for security purposes, you will be asked to provide a valid government or state-issued photo ID at check-in and a credit card.

How do I modify my reservation?

To modify a reservation, please have your confirmation number ready and call us at 619-546-9600.


How do I cancel my reservation?

Cancellation policies may vary depending on the rate or dates of your reservation. Please refer to your reservation confirmation to verify your cancellation policy. If you need further assistance, call the hotel directly at 619-546-9600. You can find your cancellation policy in your confirmation email.

Reservations designated as non-refundable at the time of booking remain non-refundable regardless of circumstances.

We offer valet parking only at this time. Feel free to pull up to the front of the hotel and an associate will be glad to park your vehicle.

Pets allowed for an extra charge of USD 75.00 per accommodation, per stay. Up to two medium-sized dogs allowed per room (up to 50 lb each). Pet-friendly rooms can be requested by contacting the hotel. Pets may not be left unattended in guestrooms. Pets are not allowed on our rooftop or in the pool areas due to local and state regulations. Service animals exempt from fees/restrictions.


Can I smoke in my room?

No. All rooms are completely non-smoking. If you light up or vape inside the hotel we must charge a fee of up to $300 USD for smoking in the hotel, including on the rooftop. Please ask the Front Desk for locations of designated outdoor smoking areas. Go outside, the weather is great!

Is Carte Hotel Downtown San Diego ADA Compliant?

We have many ADA compliant rooms, including our King Bay and City Views, Junior Suite and Large Double Queen corner rooms. Please call reservations to book one of these rooms or reserve online here.

ADA access can be enjoyed on our lobby level restaurant throughout Watercolors and compliant bathrooms just past the elevators. Our pool is equipped with a chair lift. We have 2 ADA compliant parking spots and our fire alarms are equipped with both flashing lights and audio alerts. Braille signage is in our rooms, public spaces and elevators.
